Prior to the popularity of lasers, tattoo removal was a more painful procedure with a greater risk of scarring.

Thanks to today’s advancements in technology and technique, lasers have become the standard treatment for tattoo removal…

There was a time when there were only three options for removing unwanted tattoos. Allow me to explain…

  • The first option and in my opinion the least attractive is known as dermabrasion, where skin is actually “sanded” to remove the surface and middle layers of skin to get at the pigment.
  • Then there’s cryosurgery, where the area is frozen prior to its removal.
  • The third is excision, where the surgeon removes the tattoo with a scalpel and closes the wound with stitches.

In some cases involving large tattoos, a skin graft from another part of the body may have also been necessary.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt a lot?

Lasers offer a bloodless, low risk, effective alternative with minimal side effects…

Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light energy that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin. These pulses of light will be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This light energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles that are then removed by the body’s immune system.

Laser tattoo removal has been described as feeling like being snapped by a thin rubber band.

We offer a cooling system that assists with any discomfort associated with the treatments. We utilize the Quanta Q Plus C Laser System for tattoo removal. This system sets an industry standard by which ALL other devices are measured!

These images of a rose tattoo are just before the first treatment and one day after the second laser removal treatment.

No scarring or bleeding.

Does laser tattoo removal cause scarring?

There is a less than 5% chance of scarring

Each treatment is done on an outpatient basis in a series of visits. There are simple aftercare instructions and we are always available after your treatment if you have any follow-up questions.

This video is of the rose tattoo from the above photos being removed. Laser tattoo removal is so tolerable that I am able to do this treatment to myself. You can see the nice “frost” (dehydrated skin and gases) that will rise to the surface during treatment and  fade within minutes. Everyone is different, we all have a different pain threshold and we all heal at our own rate.

Let us reassure you that our gold standard laser system and the advancements in training and technique make removing your tattoo a safer and less painful option.

It’s time to forget those misconceptions about tattoo removal.
